The Latest Wine Trends 2019

You may or may not know that at the Rooster we know a thing or two about wine and it came as no surprise to find out that our sister restaurant Capo has once again won the Wine Spectators Grand Award for 2019.

At The Rooster you'll find or extensive Wine Room located on the restaurant floor.

Off the back of such great news we wanted to share a little industry insight into the latest wine trends this year. E. & J. Gallo family one of the world largest distributers of wine have this year changed their style in line with summer and millennial tastes pushing for a fruiter flavor in their glass. This year they have moved towards Pink Moscato Sangria and Fiesta Sangria and pulled their efforts away from older style wines like Burgundy and Chianti.

A comment from Gallo's Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Gallo has said, "the next generation wants flavorful wine, we are evolving our brand to appeal to them."

Per serving wine is more expensive than both beer and spirits making it a tough sell for the cost conscious millennials that only make up around 17% of all wine buyers. However by 2027 it is expected that millennials will make up the largest segment of fine wine consumers therefore major wine distributers are paying close attention to this demographic. Expect to see a rise in the popularity of Pinot Noir, Moscato, sparking wines and lets not forget rosé.

This summer why not have our trained and experienced wine sommeliers take you through the latest tastes of the year and help you pair it with one of our gorgeous new dishes from our summer menu.

We can cheers to that.
